Get to know me better

Hi, I'm Renée. Based in SW London, I teach public group classes and workshops as well as individual and corporate private classes.

My intention as a yoga teacher is to create a safe space to foster a playful exploration of movement, reconnecting with the body, breath and spirit through a practice of awareness.

I've been teaching since 2018, when I traded the corporate life as marketeer for a 200hr teacher training in Hatha yoga.

Where I first started to discover the balance between effort and ease. This core theme in yoga teachings can be applied to daily life and support how we show up in the world.

My teaching style has evolved to incorporate creative sequencing designed to build a better foundation, understanding your own anatomy and empower autonomy of practice.

More about my personal practice

I really enjoy shifting the perception of movement most of us are conditioned with: to strive, to push, to chase a sense of effort or stretch. You get what you put in, right; but what if less is more? Sometime a little more understanding / technique means a lot less effort is needed.

It may seem like a juxtaposition but when I'm not teaching sleepy restorative yoga, you can find me practicing or teaching partner acrobatics. A practice built on trust, communication and connection.

Acro is also a great practice in breaking through our limiting beliefs and attachments to gender roles and stereotypes within movement.

What people say about me:

  • "Yes it’s yoga, but so much more - a guide to moving with subtlety, intelligence, curiosity and kindness. You will always feel challenged in the nicest possible way, restored and realigned after a class with Renée."

    Rae Shirvington

  • “Renee's teaching style is creative, soft, and inclusive. I have cerebral palsy and do not always feel very confident in my body's abilities - Renee's frequent invitations of playing with what her students' yoga practice might look like encourages me to approach my own practice in a dynamic way. Furthermore, she is always up for providing suggestions that really help working towards something and does so in a way that isn't overwhelming, adding to her advice as time progresses.”

    Julia Ouzia

  • “I utterly love my Monday evening sessions with Renee; a relaxing class inviting unique but thoughtful movements in. Renee has a really lovely presence and teaching style too."

  • “Dynamic - fun, challenging and also gentle at times. I love Renee’s sweet voice and real sense of confidence in her knowledge of yoga. I always appreciate yoga teachers that clearly have their own regular yoga practice because they’re deeply compassionate to their students. Renee can anticipate what we’re going to feel so she invites into something new with lots of guidance and also offers less challenging options. I will keep coming back for Renee’s classes because I always learn new things and I feel so tangibly better in my body and mind after her classes. Her style is so unique and I’m so grateful for her work!”

    Dee McGeever

  • “Renee’s classes are calm, kind and spacious. She is the most gentle teacher I’ve ever worked with and has an incredible knack for adjustments to help her students. Her classes are perfect at the end of a work day, they give me the opportunity to ground myself and wind down - her classes are the absolute best for this. Her content is varied but she always makes allowance for how students are feeling and provides options to cover everyone from those who have stepped into the studio for the first time to seasoned yogis and the most supple athletes. The best bit of her classes is the kind way Renee teaches, it’s unique and I highly recommend her.”

    Sally Wood

  • “I would describe every class with Renée as incredibly accommodating. She consistently offers various options based on your experience or even your energy level on that particular day, ensuring the class is tailored to suit everyone in the room. This creates a truly inclusive and welcoming environment.

Renée is also highly attentive and hands-on, generously sharing her extensive knowledge of the body with anyone seeking further guidance. I always find her advice incredibly helpful and accurate, demonstrating a deep understanding of muscles, tendons, and overall movement — qualities that make her an exceptional yoga teacher.

Most importantly, Renée is an amazing, kind, and cheerful person. All these qualities combined make me look forward to her classes, and I can’t imagine my weekly routine without them.”
